Feminism
Have you ever come across that day where you feel nothing but complete rage. That's one such day for me today. What's Feminism? According to me it's fighting for those rights which was once robbed from women. A Feminist doesn't necessarily need to be just women. In this context it's the fight for the marginalised. Anyone can be and should be a Feminist.
But am tired of this world constantly misinterpreting this term. Recently came across a movie called "Aan Paavam pollathathu" that made no sense. The film totally misleads the society where still few people are trying to understand what Feminism is. I am neither with the female lead nor with the male lead of this film. Both had their own flaws. But what agitated me was the way everything was portrayed. The film constantly conveys that the female lead is stupid and is expected to behave a certain way just because she stays home. Since when an independent woman meant someone who smokes. Smoking is a bad habit despite the gender. How was Feminism connected with this. The film for upto hundred times conveys the dialogue 'Law supports women', sinch when?! If it truly serves for women all the rapist would be dead by now , law barely supports justice these days.
The other day I came across a reality tv show(debate show)that was trolled to have gifted a pressure cooker for a female participant who spoke for feminism. Do people think Feminists don't cook ? Or that women hates cooking? We don't hate the job ,we hate it when it's forced upon us. We hate it when we are considered valueless when inside the kitchen and too full of ourselves when we are out of it.
When the society do not even have the slightest knowledge about Women's right , film and influencing agents like this make it worse. The film at the very end talks about pseudo-Feminism and the struggles of a working men. Please let's not talk about pseudo-Feminism when the purpose of Feminism is not served yet!
