Holy Texts?

I often wonder how holy or ancient texts have always carried within themselves silent patriarchy but ironically regarded as an epitome of morals and values for Humans. Let us take for example the epic Ramayana. We see how Sita undergoes sati to prove her chastity. Though there may be several views to justify that but my foremost question is why? Why should a woman prove her chastity and for whom should she? But people often look over it.The major event of Ramayana if asked anyone, would be the great battle between Rama and Ravana or the archery skills of Rama or would revolve around Rama's so called kindness and loyalty. But what about Sita? We barely talk about her plight. We barely talk about the injustice that has happened to her. Or worse we justify it. Sita makes me wonder whether even a Goddess is not safe in this world made for men just because she is a woman? Then comes Kannagi from Silapathigaram. People celebrate her for the love she has for Kovalan, her husband and for h...

Gen Z And Education.

On our previous class we had a discussion on "What would you introduce in the field of education for the Gen Z". And here are my views on it. I always think there is a need for people to know how to properly use AI. AI in my opinion should be used as a guide and not as a creator. People should be taught on how to use technology as an alternative option but not as a substitute for human creation. AI can be used in the field of science but definitely not in the field of art. If only humans are taught to do this I think we will all obviously be able to think critically and creatively for that comes more naturally for us than for machines. I also think education should not always be subject oriented thus I would also like to introduce the importance of communication for the Gen Z and the need to interact with fellow beings. With the dangerously insane addiction and usage of social media this generation tends to detach from reality and so it becomes important for them to acknowled...

Life Loop

The other day I was reading an essay. At the very beginning it was pretty difficult to understand but however I kept going. As I felt the chain of thoughts not aligning quite well in my mind, I paused and went all over again from the beginning. To my surprise it was a very simple concept explained in the essay which I didn't get moments before. Although at times we are puzzled and trying to figure things out I think it's important for us not to stop that trying. Keep going any way. Pause, breath and then start all over again. Remember in this journey you are going towards what you needed and that's all that matters. You can stop, take a pause, cry over it, be proud but never forget to restart. And it takes a lot of strength to do so. It can worn out one but despite that people run, people chase and that's enough. Don't be too quick to withdraw for you have come a long way already. It's better to finish off the journey instead of giving up in the middle. Thus it...

Rich by Personality

Yesterday in our Value education class we were having a discussion on the difference between successful people vs great people and it shocked and disappointed me at the same time. A question was raised by our professor about how we would want our kids or siblings to be, a 'Successful person' or a 'Great person'? I was mentally preparing myself to answer 'great' but the consecutive answers of students disappointed me that I went into a loop of thoughts in the middle of the class so here I am with my peice of writing to let those thoughts out. I do get how different people have different perspectives and opinions but it bothers me anyhow. Let's say Successful people are those who have plenty of material source , someone who desires to be rich. On the other hand a great person is someone who is true to their nature. Someone who is successful by their personality.Even one of our classmates claimed that not all successful persons can be great which is very true. ...

How Much Is Too Much?

I recently saw a video on how humans only value something when it reaches the extreme and couldn't agree more to it. But Why? why it's considered Hurting only when one cries their eyes out? Why it's Anger only when things break? Why emotions value only when it's said out loud? All these made me wonder who really set this system up?  One could be just silent but still be angry. One could be just smiling and still be grieving. It's also the same people who judge when it reaches those extremes, don't they? Being too fat, being too thin, being too loud, being too quiet and the list goes on. And it made me realise people judge anyway. It's pretty simple to say ,"ignore judgements." But can we really? Somewhere it tickles the brain of a very fit person and she questions herself if she is too fat? And words cannot be just ignored for it reaches the deepest part of one's soul before they ponder over the fact on whether or not to ignore it. Witnessing m...

On The Surface.

We often times think everyone is leading quite a good life. Sometimes we think we are the only main character here and God dumps all the worldly suffering only on us. Not to blame but I have been there too. Just human's deliberate way of trying to feel recognised. But there is something more in everyone's life story that we don't often see. A kid , how cruel can be a kid's life? Right, what problem are they going to face in such an young age? Because that's what I thought too, just a kid living her best life, turns out it wasn't. Every Friday of the week I take a visit to the RSL school to teach the kids out there as a part of my part 5 activity. That was one such day too. It went off well we discussed with the kids about the upcoming New Year. We explained them what a resolution is and asked about their wishes too. There were so many different answers, "I wish to learn well" ,"I wish to play well" etc etc.. but one answer made me pause . ...
