Fitting in?
Why do people always try to fit into the norms of the society? May be it's just human's deliberate way of trying to get recognised or to feel included. But in this process of pretending they don't seem to realise what damage they impose on their own personality.
By saying "fitting into the society" I don't just mean pretending to be kind or to be in the good list. With the changing generations even the way of pleasing people has changed. Imposing hatred on others is the new way to fit into the society now.
Social media acts as a platform to spread hatred. I often come across certain videos of people who appear in a way the society doesn't demand. Those people do not fit onto the normal beauty standards that's set. They may be fat ,thin, dark, fair that has nothing to do with others. But people somehow tend to meddle into their business.
Everytime I look into the comment section of such videos I witness how people easily judge on the appearance of others and eventually end up judging their entire personality. They mock their weight like it's a very normal thing to do. To be specific, commenting in such way about others is now named as 'dark comedy'. When did insulting, racism, judging become a joke. No one really knows but it has been normalised now and it agitates me.
When I try to make my friends understand about it. They just easily pass by it saying how everyone does it and so it's normal and how it's not a big deal to speak about. Yeh it wouldn't be , until it happens to you.
Why is it normalised? Why do people do not realise they are degrading their own self by trying to just fit into something that's so absurd. I always reach a point where I achieve clarity when such thoughts stumble into my brain. But to this I am not able to figure one out. I am just confused about it and they way Humans are turning into something that we would never want to be is deeply concerning!
Such a raw and relatable take on fitting in. I’m sure a lot of people will feel seen through this.....
