Got No Time?
I got to witness a very humbling scene when I went to the Chennai book fair along with my friend. After having a great time with exploring the variety of books displayed there all we felt was to have a little extra time to explore more. It felt like even a day of wandering there wouldn't be enough to look at all those wonderful book stalls. But considering our curfew time of the hostel we live in we were rushing from out there.
The moment I stepped out of the book fair was when I really looked at the people there. All I saw was old people. People whose age barely let them walk was carrying a bundle of books in their hands and looking for more. I came across few older people who barely knew the way from out there. It felt like no matter their age , no matter the little strength they possessed they somehow wanted to make it to the book store and buy those books. I felt as if life was questioning me are we really that busy to not spare a little of our time peacefully in a book store. Why am I not utilising the time am given as sincerely as them and simply rushing through life which humbled me in every way possible. May be we should stop claiming that we don't have enough time and for once stop and live the moment.
Books are such great companion, aren't they. May be it felt like a deliberate way of escapism from their weary life. It was a moment of realisation for me. Humans still find the need to learn and learn and learn even after having learned their whole life. I somehow found that to be fascinating. Education is indeed a life journey, a process throughout.
And we as the younger generation should continue to read books . I think it's a very important aspect of human life especially for the young. I hope technology and growth doesn't take us away from books. Even if it does, I strongly wish we never give up on books and route for them even when we are stumbling on our steps and leading a weary life. Read more , grow more, experience life better.
